Why is the red army held up so high in Hollywood?

Every major blockbuster featuring WWII or the post war era only covers Hitler. The red army killed over triple what the Nazi's did including Jews. No real films have been made about this. It is rarely taught in high school. It seems as if everyone who teaches history through films or high school leaves the situation of the red army as liberating the oppressed nations from the Nazi regimes and seems to forget the proceeding 60 years.
