Does the failed rapture confirm your skepticism whenever someone states "The Bible says....?"?
There are as many ways to interpret the Bible as there are people who try to interpret it. Finally, some crazy Fundamentalist, Harold Camping, set himself up for his inevitable failure by quantifying his off the wall interpretation. Like so many Christians that try to define and force morality and truth on others by quoting scripture, Camping "guaranteed" the end of the world because "It was in the Bible." This just reaffirms my skepticism whenever anyone tries to use the Bible to prove any point or argument.
