Ok so i really like this guy but is it ok for girls to ask guys i really need some advice...?

I am a freahmen i just moved to a bran new town i am in volleyball and in marching band and i am making new friends fast and have had a few boys ask me out but i didnt like them i really like this guy and his friends told me he liked me but he was shyy what shuold i do is it okay for me to ask him to home comng?!?!
