Why can't he just be straightforward?

remember the saying...actions speak louder than words. and to me, it's sounds like his actions are very clear! and contradicting his words. he probably strings you along because he feels that he can't find better, and just keeps you around to fall back on just in case. just cut him off cold turkey and see what his actions will do then
